Harvesting Fresh Organic Passiflora incarnata

At the heart of every herbal medicine is the plant itself. The quality of the finished tincture can never exceed the quality of the herb from which it is made. That’s why timing, freshness, and careful handling matter so much.

This week on our biodynamic farm, we have been harvesting Passiflora incarnata—commonly known as Passionflower—to create our fresh organic tincture. Every harvest is guided by the rhythms of nature, ensuring each plant is gathered at its optimum stage of growth, when its natural constituents are at their peak.

Harvested at the Perfect Moment

Unlike dried herbal ingredients that may have travelled thousands of miles before processing, our Passionflower is grown here on our own biodynamic farm. We observe each crop closely throughout the growing season and harvest only when the plant has reached its ideal stage for medicine making.

Once harvested, there is no waiting.  The freshly cut herb is taken directly from the field to our on-site manufacturing facility, where it is transformed into tincture on the very same day. This rapid processing helps preserve the integrity of the fresh plant and captures its naturally occurring constituents while they are at their freshest.

Where Traditional Herbal Wisdom Meets Modern Pharmaceutical Standards

What makes our approach truly unique is the combination of our biodynamic farm with our dedicated on-site manufacturing and laboratory facilities.

Growing exceptional herbs is only part of the story. Every tincture is manufactured in our cGMP and MHRA-approved facility, ensuring that traditional herbal medicine is produced to rigorous pharmaceutical-quality standards.

By growing, harvesting, manufacturing and testing everything in one location, we maintain complete oversight of every stage of production—from seed to finished bottle.

Quality You Can Trust

Every batch of tincture undergoes comprehensive quality testing in our on-site laboratory before it is released.

This includes rigorous batch testing to verify identity, quality and consistency, giving practitioners and customers confidence that every bottle meets the highest standards.

Our integrated approach allows us to maintain full traceability throughout the entire process, with every step carefully documented and controlled.

The Benefits of Biodynamic Farming

Our herbs are grown using biodynamic farming principles, which nurture healthy, living soils and encourage biodiversity across the farm. Healthy soil supports resilient plants, and resilient plants provide the foundation for exceptional herbal medicines.

Rather than treating plants as commodities, biodynamic farming recognises them as part of a balanced ecosystem. The result is herbs that are grown with care, respect and attention throughout their entire lifecycle.

Freshness Makes the Difference

For fresh herbal tinctures, freshness isn’t simply a marketing phrase—it’s fundamental to how the medicine is made.

Harvesting and processing Passiflora incarnata on the same day means the plant never spends days or weeks in storage before extraction begins. Instead, we capture the vitality of the freshly harvested herb immediately, preserving the qualities that make fresh plant tinctures so highly valued in traditional herbal practice.

As another harvest comes in from the fields, we’re reminded that producing exceptional herbal medicines begins long before the manufacturing process. It starts in healthy soil, with careful cultivation, expert harvesting, and a commitment to combining the best of traditional farming with modern pharmaceutical manufacturing.

From our biodynamic fields to our laboratory-tested tinctures—all in one place, all on the same day—that’s what makes our medicines truly distinctive.
